I purchased this product for my 8 yo daughter and she absolutely rant and raved about it for days......it was easy for her to use and play with.....I would absolutely recommend this for any child of the same age....the only issue I had with walmart is that the product was $32.95 in the store but only $24.95 online.....not a complaint...just saying that customers should check the rates online and then compare them with in-store prices

Excellent Product for the Money

This toy is the best gift for my little niece. She really love lalaloopsy toys so I decided to buy it for her for Christmas. When I ordered the gift, the toy was in good shape nothing was out of place or damanged. I highly reccomend this item as a wonderful Chriistmas gift.

A perfect gift for a little girl

My daughter waited 7 weeks to get this doll. She was her reward for good behavior. Coral Sea Shells was definitely worth the wait! Here's why:

1. Corals head is soft and light, not heavy like other Lalaloopsy dolls. Easier for younger children to carry/hold.

2. Hair changes color quickly and more "dramatically" than in the photo on the box. Ours changed from a bright pink (room temp# to a DARK purple #in ice water#. My daughter loved watching this change over and over.

Because it changes to purple in ICE WATER.... we filled the bathroom sink with COLD #tap# water and let her play with her doll in the sink while preparing her bath. When she took the doll to the bath tub, her hair turned back to pink.

3. I love that her mermaid tail is fabric and removable. Dolls that have a permanent tail are awkward to say the least!

4. She is versatile. My daughter loves that she can play with Coral all day AND then take her in the bath tub! By morning, Coral and her clothes are dry and are ready for play time again! The drain hole in her head really helps remove excess water!

If you are planning to buy a Lalaloopsy for a special little girl, here is what I recommend:
Skip on the Lalaloopsy Silly Hair dolls. They are awkward, especially for little ones. Their accessories are easily lost and/or broken.
Go for Coral Sea Shells #IMO the most versatile play options) or the Lalaloopsy Littles, which are PERFECT for the smaller girls.

Fun lalaloopsy doll!

My daughter loves this! The hair isn't the highest quality as far as the color changing aspect but she loves it still the same.

Swimming good time!

My online bying experience was excellent. The product was cheaper than the store, delivery for free and fast. no damage in the product.

The only down point is the color hair change only with very cold water, not standard temperature water. But nice doll for my daughter, she love it.

I thought I'd write a review for those wondering about the color change issues with this doll's hair. I purchased this in store where 4 dolls were in stock. All of them had purple hair (dry on the shelf). This was the case at Target, Walmart and Toys R Us. Note: I recommend buying this doll in person because most of the mermaid suits had issues (one was sewn crooked at the top, and two of them had the bottom flipper sewn on very crooked).

Below I've quote the exact text from the "How to Play" instructions that come with the doll (This can be very helpful before deciding to purchase such a pricey little toy). After we got our purple-haired doll home I ran her hair under hot water and it turned pink. It stayed that was in our 68-degree house after it dried for about 30 minutes before it started to shift back to purple. Any water that is left on the outside or inside of the head will eventually cool enough to turn that spot purple again, so make sure you dry it off completely. Don't use a blow dryer to get it to stay pink because apparently this could ruin it. The instructions note that eventually the color-change effect of the hair will die out, and that leaving it in the sun may damage it. I would hope that if left in the sun it would stay pink for good because I much prefer the pink hair. Anyway, here's the text:

Important Note:
Limit outdoor play as the color change feature will be diminished if the doll is exposed to direct sunlight for a period of time. DO NOT LEAVE THE DOLL OUTSIDE IN DIRECT SUNLIGHT.

COLOR CHANGE:
1) Fill a container with icy water (Approsimately 65 F/18 C or colder).
2) Dunk your Lalaloopsy Coral Sea Shells doll head-first for 10-20 seconds.
3) Wow! Her hair has immediately changed color!
4) Reset her hair back to the original color by dunking her in a container filled with warm water (approximately 75 F/24 C or warmer).
NOTE: DO NOT use very hot water.

IMPORTANT COLOR CHANGE TEMPERATURE NOTES

NOTE: The color change works best and fastest if the water is icy cold.
If color change does not work properly or quickly, the temperature of your Lalaloopsy doll's hair may be too close to the temperature of the water.
Color change temperatures may vary according to weather conditions.
The color-change effect of the doll's hair has a lengthy but limited lifespan

Instructions for Change Hair Color

This Lalaloopsy is one of the most adorable that I have ever seen. I like the fact that the manufacturer didn't just slap a mermaid outfit on this doll and call it a water toy, her head has a drainage hole that allows for easy drainage after water play. Both her mermaid outfit and swimsuit can go in the water and get wet which is also a plus. Her fishy friend is made of plyable plastic which makes it easy to fill up and squirt out. My only criticism is that her hair doesn't completely turn purple when wet (ice cold water required...), it also changes back to pink quite quickly. Overall my daughter is very happy with this doll and so am I!

Absolutely Adorable!!!

My daughter really enjoys it but it's more of a headache for me. You have to use ice water to turn the hair purple. So I end up dumping an entire tray of ice into cold water. Once my daughter transfers the dolls head back and forth from the warm water to the cold water several times, the warm water mixes with the ice water and the water is no longer cold enough to change the hair color. Kind of a hassle to make a bucket of ice water every time my daughter takes a bath. Other than that, she does enjoy it. Kind of pricey for the hassle, but worth it to my daughter.

She's adorable and my daughter was thrilled. The only thing is that her hair doesn't change color when she's in the water but it does at other odd times.

I bought this doll because my daughter wanted her very badly. I wasn't sure it would be worth the money but went ahead and got it. I am very disappointed. The doll itself is cute but the hair does not change color well. I first put it in cold tap water and when that did not work came here and read some of the other reviews. I then tried ice water which did change the hair but only where the doll's head was submerged and only after almost 5 minutes. My daughter is still thrilled with it but I feel like it was a waste of money as the toy did not perform as expected.
